A little late in the game ...but, Happy New Year to everyone!
Now, let's get to the topic of this entry ...who do you listen to?? Interesting don't you think? We have been taught from a young age, listen to your parents, your teachers, your grandparents..your bosses, your elders, the police. Well, as we grow old, many of us don't realize that who we listen to , has shaped how we think about ourselves and to some extend, who we have become.
As you get older, you listen to the media, your friends, authors, motivational speakers, teachers, priest, public figures, public leaders, day-time talk host ( this one is for you Oprah!), trying to find the one thing or person who will direct you in your course in life. Some people are defined by their jobs, they don't know who they are without work, some, are all play and don't know what they want to do as a career...some of us, wander, marry, have kids, join groups, find hobbies or follow the latest fad...without really being ourselves. I guess in essence, we are listening to everyone except the one person that can give you all the answers your seeking, and that is yourself.
I know that sitting in silence with yourself is not easy, I listened the the negative voice in my head for a long time, which is turn was fueled by the people that I sought out in life, and only made me worst off than before. Part of who we listen to and what we do, is to seek approval. Seeking approval from someone only gives them control over your life, you become a hostage and it creates stress. Wanting the approval of , your boss, your friends, the new cool person on the block, society, your parents, boyfriends, in-laws, the mail man...whoever, I notice more and more....that people don't have a light of self - peace around them...they move through life, stressed, overweight, angered, in horrid relationships, weak, unhappy...because they have listened to the wrong people and are seeking approval.
I have started a new journey, one that was a very long time coming, I have stopped seeking approval and only listen to myself...because I have come to learn by sitting alone with myself and listening to my heart and what my eternal energy is trying to tell me was that....
- whoever is present are the right people
- whenever it begins is the right time
- whatever happens is the only thing that could have happened
- when it is over, it's over
Find that center of peace and wisdom within yourself ...you can trust your our thoughts, you can clear your mind of other's words and advice, influences...and bring forth your burning right to the life, that YOU created.
On last thought ...Keep your eyes and ears wide open, and your mouth shut...try it for a week, and see how everything changes.
xoxo
